FLOATING WIND MAINTENANCE COST REDUCTION THROUGHT THE USE OF DIGITAL TWIN SHM

SCOPE OF WORK

The scope of work includes the 4 following tasks:

  • State of the art of OPEX assessment for floating wind farms
  • Excel spreadsheet setup or use of dedicated software to determine floating wind farm maintenance costs
  • Meetings with external stakeholders to discuss impacts of SMH Software on maintenance costs
  • Develop an optimized maintenance plans scenario when using SHM Software

State of the art of maintenance cost assessment for floating wind farms

Search and review of specialized technical papers, and web research, based on public information related to existing approaches for assessment of floating offshore wind farm maintenance costs, including list of planned inspections, planned and unplanned maintenance operations and associated probability of occurrence, database of maintenance vessels, and associated vessels and crew costs, and typical overall maintenance costs depending on wind farm size / type of floating platform and mooring system.

Excel spreadsheet setup or use of dedicated software to determine floating wind farm maintenance costs

Based on first task outcome, select the most appropriate approach for maintenance cost assessment (i.e. develop an Excel spreadsheet or use a dedicated Software) of a typical floating wind farm depending on number of turbines, floater type, mooring types, regulation to be applied, distance to shore etc.

Meetings with external stakeholders to discuss impacts of SMH Software on maintenance costs

Attend meetings with senior engineers in PRINCIPIA to discuss with external stakeholders (certification company, wind farm developers, maintenance operation service providers) about relevancy of the resulting maintenance costs found in task 2, potential reduction of inspections / planned maintenance operations when SHM monitoring are implemented etc.

Develop optimized maintenance plans scenario when using SHM Software

Define optimized maintenance plan scenario by implementing outcomes of meetings from previous task, and conclude on impact of SHM Software on OPEX. Attend meetings with PRINCIPIA’s Clients to present impact of PRINCIPIA SHM Software on OPEX Cost

deliverables

1 – Technical report including :

  • Summary of technical papers and web information on this subject
  • Description of excel spreadsheet or dedicated Software
  • Conclusions on impact of SHM on OPEX

2 – Excel Spreadsheet or Software model
